FAQs

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching and therapy assist clients in setting goals, learning skills, and planning for future success. Both offer a safe, structured environment that provides support and accountability. However, differences arise concerning educational and professional qualifications.

Psychotherapists must possess an advanced degree and a clinical license to diagnose and treat mental health issues. While many life or motivational coaches undergo extensive training and certification, these are not always mandatory. Therapy is generally covered by medical insurance, whereas life coaching is not.

Whether you work with a coach or a therapist, finding a qualified professional and building a positive rapport is essential.

Why Yoga?

Yoga fosters the mind-body connection. Consistent practice enhances breath awareness, physical coordination, flexibility, sleep, and stress management. It is highly adaptable and accessible to nearly every ability level. Research continues to demonstrate that yoga effectively aids in healing trauma.

Why don’t you work with _________ (Teens, Couples, Children etc)?

Each therapist has a scope of practice, priority population, and unique personality. I’m open and honest about my areas of expertise, professional passions, and current skills. I want to do the most good where I’m best suited.

Why does a therapist charge extra fees for things like paperwork?

Completing paperwork such as FMLA forms, disability forms, and supportive letters requires considerable time, attention, and professional expertise beyond therapy sessions. To ensure accuracy and thoroughness, therapists dedicate additional hours to these tasks, which are not included in session fees. FMLA paperwork typically takes at least 30 to 60 minutes to complete due to the necessity of supporting clinical documentation. Disability paperwork often takes longer and may require further assessments beyond the regular intake evaluation. The corresponding fees reflect the value of professional time and ensure fairness to all clients by balancing administrative work with direct care, enabling therapists to continue providing high-quality support while addressing clients' documentation needs.
